False Arrest in Governors Office

Undeterred by the state repression, I continued to take part in the peaceful assembly and I continued to voice my political opinion. The following arrest based on my political opinion took place in the governor’s office in the state capitol. After the continued brutalization of our protest, I organized a group to have a political discussion in and around the front lobby of the governor’s office. We politely discussed with one another how we felt our human rights were being violated as well as the inner workings of state government. Immediately upon entering our capitol everyone in the group was searched and harassed by law enforcement. Shortly after we entered the public office of the governor I was approached by state patrol officers and informed me that they had a warrant for my arrest, due to my failure to appear at a court date on a traffic violation. I informed the officers this warrant was not for me and the warrant issued for me was rescinded by order of the courts and even produced papers issued by the court rescinding the warrant. I carried around the papers rescinding the warrant because I knew law enforcement would simply arrest and jail me, as law enforcement just enforces the law as they are too stupid to understand the laws. After being jailed I would then have to prove to the court, who interprets the laws however that particular official of the state sees fit, that in fact the warrant was rescinded. To save myself the trouble of being arrested and having my human rights violated, I carried around the orders rescinding the warrant. One of the officers then took the papers and contacted their superior officer, when they came back they informed me the court did withdraw this warrant but issued one for my arrest based on a traffic ticket, a charge which I was never charged with. I was then arrested. Everyone who was watching, and still peacefully and legally sitting in their state capitol, was forced out by law enforcement. Then I was kidnapped and jailed for 12 hours and released with no explanation and no charges pressed. All additional documents can and should be provided by the city and county of Denver and state of Colorado.

The following day, officers of the state inform me I am banned from entering the capitol specifically because of my political speech and that this ban was in force not by any act of law but by the order of a superior officer’s opinion of my political speech.

“Donahue, who was accused of verbally assaulting a state patrol officer this morning, is currently prohibited from entering, though officials aren't sure how long this ban will last, officer C.J. Valdez says. Donahue says he'll return tomorrow to see if the ban is still in place, though a final attempt today ended with him being promptly escorted from the building and the door shut behind him.”

“When asked how state troopers are enforcing Donahue's ban from the building, Valdez said that a supervisor made the decision and that there's no need to pass around Donahue's image. “We’re all aware who he is," Valdez says. "We've had experience with him before.¨
